QUICK FIELD TOOLS

A useful answer. Clear assumptions.

Five calculators for the arithmetic that comes up on a dirt job. No sign-up, no job to create, nothing to install — the maths runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Why the assumptions are on the page

Most quantity calculators bury their factors. You enter dimensions, a number appears, and there is no way to tell which swell factor or truck size produced it — which makes the answer impossible to check and awkward to defend.

These show every factor as an editable field and repeat it with the result. Where a figure is a published typical value rather than a measurement of your material, the page says so. Where a calculation does not model your situation — a benched excavation, a trench that changes depth, a haul under seasonal load restrictions — the page says that too.

When a calculator is not enough

A single answer is fine for a question you are about to act on and forget. It is not enough when someone asks three weeks later how a quantity was arrived at, or when a set of grade checks needs to go to the office as a record.

That is what Driftless Field does: the same arithmetic, but recorded against a named job with the benchmark, the readings, the tolerance and the assumptions kept together, and printed as a report you can hand over.
