MnCORS field guide

Use MnDOT’s registration and correction-stream information, then check the selected reference against your job.

Get set up

  1. Register using the user-management link on MnDOT’s network page. Follow the account instructions sent by the network administrator.
  2. Request a login for each simultaneously connected rover. Confirm the format supported by your equipment with its provider.
  3. Select the stream for the required reference. The FAQ distinguishes NAD83(1996) and NAD83(2011) mountpoints; its table pairs them with different geoid models.
  4. Keep the chosen mountpoint, horizontal reference and geoid model with your job notes. Corrections determine ellipsoid heights; project elevations need the appropriate height conversion or approved local calibration.

If the rover will not connect

Check cellular data, credentials, the selected stream and network notices. An available GNSS signal does not guarantee a working cellular connection. For receiver setup, start with your equipment provider; for network access, contact CORSVRS.DOT@state.mn.us. See MnDOT resources and contacts.

If the portal or map will not open

Return to the official network page for its current links and regional maps. If the user-management portal displays “Request rejected” or a blank map, contact network support for help with access.

Bring a consistent reference back to the office

Use the control-check and CSV/LandXML handoff checklist. A county or local design grid must agree with the exported survey before comparing elevations or computing volumes.

Do not change a mountpoint or geoid merely to make a discrepancy disappear. Check trusted control and resolve the project reference first.
